My parents put a package in the mail before Christmas. Somehow, as I woke up yesterday, I had a premonition that it would arrive. It came in the afternoon, and was addressed as a birthday gift. I was very excited to open it, but decided that I would wait until Nádya got home to open it. I knew from certain clues that there would be peanut butter in there, but I had not dreamed of anything else.
I opened the bottom of the box because that is where customs opened it. “Whole wheat flour? Chocolate chips? Peanut butter (two jars!!!!)! Oatmeal?”
Nádya's mom made me a huge cake, while she was making the second part of it, the electricity went out, so she had to mix it by hand. It turned out wonderfully. Nádya (I helped too) made a pizza.
I also got a Bible in Portuguese from my wife: She rocks. Nyna got me something too, but I will only tell you what it was if you twist my arm. Really hard.
Below are the pictures from the party. I think the only new people to you are Pastor Santana, his wife, and his son. It was an honor to have them here.
Yay for Fred Meyer! We don't have Fred Meyer here in Sacramento, and it brings back so many memories of growing up in Portland. I never tried their peanut butter, though.
ReplyDeleteHave fun making cookies!
And happy (belated) birthday! How many years young are you now?
Thank you! I am 29 now. I plan on making the cookies tomorrow, and will let you know how it all turns out. :D
ReplyDeleteI'll be 30 in a week, and I can hardly believe it. I don't feel that old! Doesn't it just seem like yesterday we were teenagers on the Ukraine mission trip? (Then again, at times that trip seems like a lifetime ago.)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday in advance (as I will likely forget between now and then).
ReplyDeleteYes, it was yesterday a lifetime ago, and it was a lifetime ago yesterday. That was one of the biggest life-changing moments of my life. It was awesome.
By the way, I just have to say that you and your Nádya look so sweet together! I hope we get to meet her someday!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great how her family has accepted you as one of them...it's the same with Andrew's family. I'm the only American to marry into his family (or extended family) so far, but they've all accepted me wholeheartedly as one of them! Yay for great in-laws!
