We took Lady to the pet store, which is about one kilometer from here, for her first time outside the yard of our house. She did not want to leave the house at first, but after we got a couple of blocks she started wanting to run ahead, and strain at the leash—except when a bus or a motorcycle came by, then she would not want to go anywhere at all.
We got back from that, and went to the grocery store. I have never seen so many people in a grocery store here! It was only 9:00 AM or so when we got there, and there were lines five or six deep at every register. I wished I had taken my camera. We covered our list as quickly as was possible, and waited in line forever (where “forever” ≈ 30 and 45 minutes).
It was so long that Nádya decided to eat a yogurt. They come in a pack of six, the molded plastic cups all share the label, so she ate one. After this, she handed it to the cashier, who promptly said, “Where did the barcode go?” That was a bit embarrassing. :D
The next thing we did was eat lunch. Lady was so tired from the morning walk, that she wasn't to much of a bother (not typical), even though she was free to move about the house (we actually let her be in the room with us while we were eating). Then we rested all afternoon.
Part of the rest was watching a movie called “Sprit.” It is an animated film about a horse, and was okay. The thing that struck me is that they translated all the music (which plays an integral part to the film) into Portuguese. Normally that would not be a big deal, but the way it was performed, and the way the voice was, it sounded like Phil Collins. I think he wrote the music, and they imitated him in Portuguese—but it was very well done, far better than the usual fare.

Lady was showing normal dog traits - according to Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer. Very good book "Cesar's Way", for dog owners. he recommends [in this order]: 2 parts exercise, 1 part food and 1 part affection [only after the exercise; the dog Never leads when on a walk]. I will let you know when I have all this mastered!
ReplyDeleteHi Karl and Nádya,
ReplyDeleteGreat blog!
Would you please help a 6th grade class in Ohio, USA, that wants to learn about folks living in South America?
As you live in Brazil, the kids would love you to participate in the discussion!
Or could you contact people that you know who would participate? Especially if you know of teachers, etc. who would participate that would be great. They don't have to be Brazilian, but that would be good too. Or if you know people who would pass the word along.
The URL for the discussion is here: http://www.junglephotos.com/forum/classdiscussion
The board is moderated and log-in only so safe for kids. The discussion itself will be moderated by the teacher.
Thanks!
