Christmas 2010

Kylie, Nádya, Karl, and Hendrick on Christmas 2010
We had a simple, but enjoyable Christmas with Nádya's family. We had lunch Christmas day instead of the usual Brazilian tradition of celebrating at midnight after Christmas Eve; mostly because the kids would not have made it that long into the night.

Lunch was a marinated turkey, rice, beans, and a fruit salad. All of which were spectacular. Especially the turkey gravy. Dessert was a chocolate bunt cake filled with passion fruit mousse. I would still like another piece of that.

Kylie got a bike for Christmas.

Christmas: Later Than Planned

My parents sent me a package near the beginning of December. This was our Christmas presents and, while they were told it should get here in time, it didn't.

New Years? Nope.

Karl's birthday? Não.

It did come on Nádya's birthday (the 21st of January) though!

Here is Kylie with part of what she got:

My present may seem odd to you: Shoes. I have not been able to find any here, and my old ones were wearing out. My feet are very happy. ;)

We really do. We would also love to hear from you over the holidays, even if its just a couple of lines of chat.

Remember the reason for the season.

What Christmas Eve Sounded Like

If you are interested in what the minutes leading up to midnight on Christmas Eve sounded like here in Teresina. I recorded a four minute segment for your enjoyment.

The link will lead you to the Internet Archive, that is where I am storing the content. You may have to download it (as opposed to streaming) due to my lack of ability to convert it to an actual MP3 file. If you have trouble with this, please let me know (its my first time for this).

Christmas at the Mall

Its that time of year again. I suppose most of you already know that, though.

We went to the mall yesterday, and enjoyed the air conditioning for a few hours. As a side benefit, there was a really cool Christmas decoration area thing.

Some of you may remember the pictures I sent out last year of it. Its entirely different this year, though. Last year it was miniature versions of famous buildings in different cities in Brazil. This year they did scenes from the Mid-East. Some from Egypt, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem. The level of detail was pretty cool, as well as the general ambiance of the whole thing.

Anyway, we took some pictures, and put some of them up for your enjoyment.

So, go enjoy! (that's an order)
