Well. We are back from the honeymoon, and recovered from the bus ride (sort of), and our sunburns (well, not so much for me). The wedding was wonderful, the ceremony was very meaningful, and the festa... Well lets just say that it was more of a photo shoot for us... I think the person who had my camera took around 110 pictures, and the professional photographer shot over 300 pictures that evening.
The only MAJOR disaster was that the decorator decided to do it the way she wanted to, instead of the way we asked her to do it. Hence the Green Monster (the green background at the front of the church), and other strange things.
I am very thankful to a friend here named Kennedy (as in John F.) who was gracious enough to translate the wedding on the fly (and on the spot, he was pretty much asked during the wedding by the pastor). He did an excellent job. He is an English teacher here in Teresina.
Summary of the wedding: (Please excuse my being a guy here, and not explaining/describing things as well as a person of the fairer sex might...) It is pretty much what you would expect from a wedding in the States, but with a few small differences (which I have never seen in a wedding in the states anyway).
First, the groom walks down the aisle for his entrance. That was pretty special/weird for me because her mom accompanied me. I think typically my own mother would have done this, but she was about 10,000 miles away at the time.
Second, we had communion together during the wedding. This was a special moment for us. It was a very beautiful picture of how God sacrificed so much for us to become his sons and daughters.
I hear the party afterwards was good too. I really don't remember much except posing for a ton of photos. I think the party started around 9:30 or 10 PM, and we were some of the last ones out at about 2 am. Nádya and I were very tired and even more dehydrated by that time. I hope at least some of the pictures were good!!!
In the next couple of days I plan to write more, as well as add pictures of our honeymoon trip to the beach (hence the sunburn). Okay, I am really tired now...
